This program prepares you for an industry where technology changes frequently and job tasks vary quickly. You build a solid competence in the web and a solid foundation in software development. You learn programming and user interfaces, how to work with databases, commission, test and ensure quality. With knowledge of everything from UX and frontend to backend and devops, you will be more than welcome on the labor market after graduation.
The program provides the same breadth as an education in software engineering but is more focused on the development of web technologies. You will learn to develop and quality assure small and large software systems, for example smaller websites and blog tools, larger systems of e-commerce and transaction-intensive cloud systems with large amounts of data and high demands on scalability and operational reliability. You work both individually and in project groups, which provides good opportunities to alternate between theory and practice. For example, previous students have developed apps that show results and positions in European football leagues and programs that show weather and restaurants near specific events. In the practical moments, you build a useful contact network for the future - in the same way that you do if you study a semester abroad, which you have good opportunities for if you study at BTH.
The training comprises 180 higher education credits and leads to a bachelor's degree in software engineering, with a focus on web programming. After graduation, you have a competence that gives many opportunities in professional software development. You can work as a programmer, systems developer, solution architect, consultant, project manager or manager. You also get a good basis for becoming self-employed. Previous students work at Oracle, the Swedish Pensions Agency, Webbhallen, Prisjakt, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, Telia, Telenor and Ericsson.
