ISSR is centrally located on the island of Södermalm, a short walk from Skanstull metro station. The fully equipped campus includes a library, auditorium, several science laboratories, sports hall, football field and café.

The school offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP). The DP is a comprehensive and rigorous programme for academically motivated students. The critical thinking required in the DP gives students a significant advantage at university.

At ISSR, the two years of the DP are preceded by a preparatory year (Grade 10), which corresponds to Grade 10 in international schools or the first year of upper secondary school (Gymnasiet). In the DP, students study their individually picked six DP subjects and the three core subjects. In the final year of the DP, students sit final exams, externally assessed, in all six of their subjects. External assessment means teachers do not set the grades, and this creates an open atmosphere making the students feel that teachers are on their side.
